Reliable sources already said the next Nintendo Direct showcase was inbound this month, and now additional sources have confirmed as much. At this point, it seems as though a big-time summer Switch 2 Direct stream is all but imminent alongside, what many gamers are hoping for the most, the Metroid Prime 4 release date landing in 2025, and the rumored appearance of the new Animal Crossing game for Switch 2.
Disappointing rumors started to surface suggesting development issues were going to delay the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. But the combination of new sources confirming an upcoming Direct alongside the official ratings for the new Metroid title are changing the story all together.
After rumors suggested it was might get delayed, it seems as though Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is indeed inbound and likely this year. Reports surfaced today after the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Switch 2 edition rating in Korea was spotted.
Why is this significant outside of telling us the game is being rated for ages 12 and up? Well, games don’t tend to get rated until they are at least approaching release. This is not a definitive sign or anything, but I think everyone mostly assumes it’s coming this year and this just lends credence to a launch sooner than later.

A rating for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment was also spotted recently as well, rumors hit of an upcoming Animal Crossing game for Switch 2, and Microsoft is expected to announce details on some of the Xbox games coming to Switch 2 soon as well. Nintendo also just reminder folks that MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is “launching later this year” as well, and Ubisoft just hinted that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is indeed on its way to Switch 2 as well.
All of this might mean the rumored Nintendo Direct is actually happening as well. There’s a ton of games we are still waiting to get official word on, never mind an official release date for Metroid Prime 4 and the reveal for the leaked Animal Crossing on Switch 2, but what’s taking Nintendo so long?
The most reliable leaks regarding the next Switch 2 Direct said it would be this week or next, and this week is basically over with no official announcement. It would not be odd for Nintendo to officially announce a Direct a day or two before the event goes live though, so there’s still hope for a late July event at this point.
Let’s just hope the rumored delay for Metroid Prime 4 isn’t the thing that’s pushing the event back.
