Switch 2 consoles, including both the Mario Kart World bundle and new Pokémon Legends: Z-A package, are readily available for purchase and various major retailers online. The Nintendo Switch 2 is off to a flying start here – it is the fastest selling game hardware of all-time in the U.S. after the first month – and it is now up for grabs online for anyone who hasn’t picked on up yet.
- Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle $499 (Walmart)
- Switch 2 + Pokémon: Legends Z-A $499 (Walmart)
- Switch 2 Console only $450 (Target)
- Switch 2 + Pokémon: Legends Z-A $500 (Target)
- Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle $500 (Best Buy)
- Switch 2 + Pokémon: Legends Z-A $500 (Best Buy)
We are well past that slightly annoying midnight restock phase now. Folks who, for whatever reason, haven’t score a next-generation Nintendo console yet can easily pick up the hottest thing in gaming online.
The pre-order phase wasn’t without its headaches, but with plenty of units up for grabs ahead of launch and a steady stream of restock events at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and even Amazon eventually had some units up for grabs via its Invite Request system, the Switch 2 launch, at least in terms of availability, has been one of the smoothest in recent memory. It has been much easier to score by comparison to something like PS5 and more recently PS5 Pro, and that remains true through this week and today.
Walmart and Best Buy as well as Target all have consoles up for grabs right now online.
Most of the listings are for the super-popular Mario Kart World bundle and the recently revealed Pokémon package, both of which offer some savings compared to buying the console and the game individually, but there is one very important thing to keep in mind here: the Pokémon bundle does not ship until October 16 when the game releases, it is still in the pre-order phase right now.
And while the Pokémon Legends: Z-A does come in at $20 less than buying the console and the game individually, that’s really only worth it if you’re never going to want Mario Kart World. Buying the Mario Kart World bundle and then Pokémon Legends: Z-A after the fact comes to a total of $570, but doing it the other way around – buying the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 bundle and then Mario Kart World after the fact – costs $580. Not a huge difference, but you will have to wait until the fall to get your console taking the latter path there.
It might also be worth pointing out that Nintendo has officially confirmed in the fine print and during the initial Direct Switch 2 showcase that both of these “discounted” bundles are limited time runs. I’m sure there will be new bundles later in the console’s life cycle, perhaps even something for the holidays this year, but it’s hard to tell how long these will actually stick around for. As of today, now that the dust has settled on the rush to grab one in the early days, bundles stock seems plentiful, but there’s no telling when Nintendo might shut the tap off or when stock will run dry at retail.
