Sony officially announces restock for sold out 30th anniversary PlayStation hardware, here are the details

After officially debuting the sweet PS1-style 30th anniversary PS5, PS5 Pro, DualSense controller, and the PlayStation Portal back in September, the classic edition PlayStation hardware has become incredibly difficult to get a hold of. In Sony’s attempt to keep the retro-era paint jobs as exclusive and limited as possible, it has mostly just left gamers who never got a chance to score it annoyed. Fortunately, folks here in the U.S. will get another chance starting next week (sort of).

Just ahead of the PlayStation 5 Pro pre-orders in late 2024, Sony decided to celebrate its 30th anniversary with the gaming console that started it all, the PlayStation 1. Adorning just about all of its current-generation hardware with designs heavily inspired by the gray many of us associate with console gaming from that era, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection was officially released on November 21 and has been all but impossible to get a hold off since.

There has been a few very limited restocks since then directly from PlayStation and even less from official retailers, but you will get another chance at it soon.

But here’s the bad news. While it looks as though Canadian gamers and those in the UK will get a shot at the actual console and PlayStation Portal next week, reports (and Sony’s official email to gamers) suggest the U.S. market will be limited to the 30th anniversary PS1-style DualSense controller.

As of right now it would appear the U.S. restock will only include the base DualSense, not the DualSense Edge edition, and PlayStation Plus members will get the first crack at it.

Orders will be available exclusively on direct.playstation.com, as expected, with PlayStation Plus members receiving early access on July 21 at 7:00 a.m. PT before it opens up to everyone on July 23 at 7:00 a.m. PT (if there is any left, presumably).
