Whisker’s Litter-Robot 4 has hands-down been one of my absolute favorite scores over the last few years, especially with it cutting out scooping needs, cutting down on emptying, and cutting back on litter usage. Whether you’re going with this latest model or the Litter-Robot 3 Connect, you’ll find them to be saving graces in multi-cat apartments, as it automatically cycles out their waste after any pit stop they make throughout the day. What’s more, emptying it is as simple as pulling out the waste drawer, tying off the standard trash bag, and replacing it with an empty one.

There are multiple sensors throughout the globe-like design, which register when cats enter and leave via motion and weight sensors, with a few minutes delay before it begins cycling, just to be safe. Speaking of safety, this is definitely the safest construction I’ve seen among the sea of self-cleaning models on the market, mainly due to it spinning along a vertical axis. Not only is it unable to clamp down on any curious cats’ heads while cycling, but the sensors are also sensitive and stop the function immediately until they move away.
