GameStop confirms it has more Switch 2 stock coming in-store and online, here are the details

While there does appear to be some folks still receiving emails directly from Nintendo to pre-order Switch 2, but looks like the next notable chance to land one is going tor launch day, and another major retailers has confirmed it will have more units up for grabs.

Previously, Best Buy reached out and specifically told us it will b e re-stocking Switch 2 for launch day alongside some bonus Nintendo collectibles for just some of the lucky folks at the midnight launch. At this point it is unclear whether or not Best Buy will have units online for launch day, but it has officially confirmed there will be a limited number of consoles available for purchase in-store for those lining up at brick and mortar locations on the night of June 5.

That in mind, and considering Walmart hasn’t really served up any official details on its launch day plans – the official Walmart Switch 2 listings do mention “coming soon” with the June 5 date, but there are no hard details here, GameStop appears to be the only major retailer specifically stating it will have more units online for launch day.

GameStop Switch 2 re-stock

In an official post on its X account, GameStop is promoting its Switch 2 launch day plans, specifically stating that “additional Switch 2 units will be available in-store and online at launch while supplies last.”

A black and white advertisement

It then goes on to remind folks that its in-store event will take place at 3 p.m. local time on June 4, with Switch 2 pickups starting at 12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. EST.

That sounds mostly positive, but also quite vague. Does this mean folks will be able to pre-order some of this “additional” stock on the afternoon of June 4 starting at 3 p.m.? If that’s the case, there’s likely to be nothing left for walk-ins at midnight…right?

GameStop hasn’t given any details on when the online orders will come available – it started at 10 a.m. ET on pre-order day last month. Chances are, much like we would suggest for Walmart and potentially even Best Buy (even though it has not stated anything about online orders), you will want to be ready well before midnight ET on June 5 if you’re going to try your hand at a unit instead of lining up. If you’re going to lineup (anywhere really), you will definitely want to get there as early as possible – we can only assume that folks at the back of the line will be out of luck.

All of this in mind, you’ll want to stay locked to the gadgetnewsonline X feed and our home page starting on June 4 and into the early hours of the morning as we will be up and tracking in-stock listings at all major retailers (as per usual) and offering up-to-the-minute updates for folks still looking to land one.
