Review: PowerA’s new Pac-Man themed controller looks and works great too

I’ve used PowerA controllers for years and have loved using the more pro-focused Fusion Pro Wireless controller for the last nine months. Recently, PowerA released their Pac-Man-themed Xbox controller, and I am a lover of all things Pac-Man, so I had to pick one up. I thought it did a great job with the design, bringing the bright yellow PAC-MAN, pixel art ghosts, and maze lines to life with the translucent black shell with RGB lighting. Here is what you should know!

Specs & features

Here’s what you get:

  • PowerA wireless controller for Xbox X|S and Xbox One
  • Two mappable rear buttons
  • 10 hours of battery life
  • Their Lumectra glow-in-the-dark effect and a fluorescent glow when exposed to UV light
  • Textured grip

Then in the box you get:

  • PowerA PAC-MAN Special Edition Wireless Controller
  • 10 ft. USB-C charging cable
  • Quick start guide
  • USB-A wireless dongle

So you’ll have everything you need out of the box to get started.

My experience

I’ve been using this controller primarily to play NCAA Football 25, and it’s handled everything great. From quick plays online to precision stick movement, it’s responsive and reliable. The rumble pack especially stood out, PowerA didn’t cheap out there. It delivers deep, high-quality vibration feedback that makes the whole experience more immersive, whether you’re juking defenders or landing a big hit.

The mappable buttons came in handy, too. I reassigned one to no-huddle and another to flip play, making things move quicker compared to a traditional controller. Then you have the glow-in-the-dark effect, which is sick. It is this perfect combination of being bright and unique without distracting you from your game. Overall, it’s just a comfortable, fun controller to use day-to-day.

Pricing & final thoughts

The PowerA Pac-Man edition is available today on Amazon for $99.99. It is more expensive than a normal Xbox controller, but you get much more from longer battery, to extra mappable buttons, to unique RGB looks. So if you don’t want to spend money on a Pro controller but want more function and flare than a traditional Xbox controller, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

Let me know what you think. Is this something you would add to your setup?
