Is Walmart open on Mother’s Day 2025? Is Best Buy closed on Mother’s Day? How about Target, Costco, and other grocery stores? If you’re lucky enough to have a mom in your life or a mother figure, today is the big day. While Mother’s Day was once considered a national holiday long ago, Mother’s Day is no longer a legal federal holiday in the U.S. For this reason, most of the biggest stores are indeed open today for Mother’s Day and operating on typical store hours.

What stores are open and closed on Mother’s Day 2025?

Whether you’re looking for a last minute gift, or something you can pick up on the way to Mother’s Day gatherings this morning, this afternoon, or otherwise, it appears as though just about all major retailers are indeed open again this year for the second Sunday in May – the day Mother’s Day typically lands here in the U.S. (and Canada).

It does appear as though some locations are operating slightly different hours than others, but just about all major retail locations are opening today with typical store hours in the U.S. Things could get busy with last minute shoppers earlier in the morning/day today, so you’ll want to double check with your closest locations to ensure you get in there before all the good flowers and snacks get scooped up or you get stuck in line for too long.
