That PS5 Slim Astro Bot bundle might be your last to score a proper deal on a console this year. Switch 2 pre-orders launched at a higher price than last generation with potential price hikes inbound after launch. Xbox just announced an $80 price jump on all console hardware in the U.S., and Sony has already increased the price of its consoles internationally. The sweeping Trump tariffs are starting to seriously take hold on just about everything to some degree, and especially in the gaming world…That PS5 Slim Astro Bot bundle at $110 off is starting to look seriously enticing.
While things were still quite uncertain in terms of price hikes ushered in by Trump’s worldwide levies in the early days, things are starting to get very real, very quick. It’s not all speculation of what might be and what could be happening in the future anymore – the tariffs are starting to take a very serious and now official toll on the gaming world (among many other industries of course).
Switch 2 pre-orders – arguably the biggest pre-sale in tech this year, and the most anticipated gaming launch in roughly a decade – were delayed because of this. Sony increased pricing internationally on its gaming hardware, major accessory brands like 8BitDo have announced it will no longer be re-stocking from China for the time being, and Microsoft has now officially announced sweeping price hikes across just about every piece of hardware in its current-generation Xbox lineup (not to mention the new $80 MSRP on first-party games expected to land this holiday season).
We all basically assumed it was coming (all while hoping it wasn’t), but the repercussions of Trump’s decisions in the Oval Office are now directly hitting the pockets of gamers.
While we can all just choose to be happy with what we have now, vote with our wallets so to speak, anyone looking to score a new console is going to be paying a pretty penny for one, even with a deal. Scoring a console even at what used to be (or what might soon be) full price could be a tall order.
Now it might not be the shiny new Switch 2, or even a PS5 Pro, but there is still stock of what we previously detailed as the best value in console gaming hardware – Sony’s recently-released PS5 Slim Astro Bot bundle.
- Walmart – PlayStation 5 Disco Edition Astro Bot bundle $450 ($560 value)
- Target – PlayStation 5 Disco Edition Astro Bot bundle $450 ($560 value)
Not only did it release at $50 less than the MSRP on PS5, but it also ships with a FREE $60 game – that’s $110 under the price of a console that might very well be a whole lot more expensive than it already is.
In my opinion, if you’re even considering buying a new PlayStation 5 in the coming months (maybe even at all this year with the way things are going right now), you’ll want to seriously consider the Astro Bot bundle while you still can – stock is already running completely dry at Amazon, but there are still some reputable dealers with units you can scoop up now at what was already a notably low price, and what could soon be a wildly low one for a console here in the U.S.
