Ubisoft reveals Star Wars Outlaws release date for Nintendo Switch 2, plus new story DLC trailer

We are all still, of course, awaiting official word from Nintendo on when pre-orders will finally go live for Switch 2 – dataminers are still suggesting it could go live sometime next week based on dates from retailers – but we do have an update on the launch window games. May the 4th, or Star Wars Day, is fasting-approaching now, we have already got an official announcement from LEGO on its plans and, just as we expected, we do have a Nintendo announcement from a galaxy far, far away – Star Wars Outlaws is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

Star Wars Outlaws confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

As part of the official Star Wars celebration livestream from Japan, we got caught a quick glimpse of Outlaws running on Switch 2 hardware with a short and sweet sizzle reel trailer alongside a new trailer for the upcoming story-baed DLC for the game known as Pirate’s Fortune.

The trailer shows “Kay Vess embarking on a mysterious adventure where she encounters pirates and lost treasures. Kay and Nix will be teaming up with “infamous pirate Hondo Ohnaka to face off against Stinger Tash and her Rokana Raiders to uncover the hidden riches within the dangerous Khepi Tomb. Along the way, they’ll discover the Miyuki Trade League who offer new rewards for the Trailblazer in exchange for smuggling dangerous goods across the galaxy.”

At this point there is no official word as to whether or not the Pirate’s Fortune DLC add-on will be coming to Switch 2 – the official Ubisoft announcement says Pirate’s Fortune releases on May 15, month’s before it will officially land on Switch 2. Ubisoft didn’t specifically say which platforms it was coming too.

It did however, say a FREE demo for the base game is now live on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Ubisoft Connect, the Epic Games Store, and Steam.

It then continued by saying Star Wars Outlaws is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025. This marks the first of what many expect to be several Ubisoft releases on Switch 2.

Several rumors and reliable leakers said Ubisoft would be bringing more than a few games to Switch 2 at some point this year and beyond – both newer and older Assassin’s Creed titles were thrown around quite a lot. Considering how close the brands have been after Nintendo loaned out Mario and the gang for the Rabbids crossover games last generation, it’s not hard to imagine loads more Ubisoft games making their way over to the next-generation of Nintendo hardware.

In the mean time, scope out the official Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune reveal trailer below:

Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune launches on May 15, 2025.

Embark on a mysterious adventure with Kay and Nix to explore the Khepi system and learn what it takes to be a true leader.

Team up with legendary pirate Hondo Ohnaka and face off against Stinger Tash and her Rokana Raiders as you infiltrate the Khepi Tomb to uncover the secrets and hidden treasures it holds.

Along the way, you’ll discover the Miyuki Trade League who offer new rewards for the Trailblazer in exchange for smuggling dangerous goods across the galaxy.

As part of the update alongside A Pirate’s Fortune, all players will be gifted cosmetic items inspired by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which will include an outfit for Nix, a Trophy for the speeder and a Trinket for both the speeder and the Trailblazer! The gift will appear in your delivery crate on the Trailblazer after downloading and installing the update.
