New Switch 2 pre-order date for Canada surfaces, could start next week – will they go live in the U.S. then too?

Here we go again folks, it looks like we might have a new pre-order date for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada – this might very well indicate what we see here in the U.S. too. Pre-orders were still set to go live in Canada after they were delayed in the U.S. only to have Nintendo confirm that it wants to have the pre-sale begin at the same time north of border and delayed those too. But a new, typically reliable source is suggesting Canadian pre-orders could go live next Wednesday. 

New Switch 2 pre-order date for Canada

Again, as I’m sure you’re imagine, we will want to take all of this with a grain of salt, but it looks like pre-orders could go live in the great white north starting next Wednesday, April 23, 2025.   

A potential placeholder date for pre-orders at Target in the U.S. was spotted this morning that had things kicking off on April 30 at midnight. But that date and time is highly suspect and, as many have suggested, could very well just be a mostly random placeholder date. 

Nintendo is still listing a May 8 start time for invitations on the My Nintendo Store, and rumors have now hit X suggesting a new date has been set in Canada. 

As mentioned above, Nintendo already delayed Canadian pre-orders of Switch 2 specifically so they will fall in line with those in the U.S. Could this new date also go live down here as well?

X user @billbil_kun who typically has a relatively reliable track record for these sorts of things is saying that, from what they “can see through some Canadian retailers,” Switch console and bundles will go live on April 23, 2025 – that’s next Wednesday and precisely two weeks after they were initially set to go live on April 9. 

This data has since been re-posted all over the place by now, but again, there’s no way to know for sure. This user themselves even says that the date is “subject to change. Can’t confirm if it’s the same for US…I’ll keep you updated if it changes.”

We too will keep folks posted on the latest, but at this point just about all signs are pointing to Switch 2 pre-orders going live before the month is out.
