Sony has now officially unveiled the new PlayStation 5 Astro Bot console bundle. While the Mushroom Kingdom took over the internet yesterday for Mario Day 2025, we wanted to touch down this morning to make sure folks interested in picking up a new PlayStation console didn’t miss this one. The question is, do you get that awesome Astro Bot controller? And is there anyone out there wants a copy of the 2024 Game of the Year winner not already have one?
New Astro Bot PS5 console bundle arrives this week
Sony and Nintendo, and even Microsoft, sell a lot more consoles this late into the console cycle than it might seem to just about everyone other than shareholders and industry analysts. So while late console releases, like this new Astro Bot bundle and that Super Mario Bros. Wonder package Nintendo just served up ahead of the Mario Day festivities this year, are wholly underwhelming for avid gamers, they are meaningful for the brands to some degree and there are indeed folks out there that can benefit from the savings and new configurations they deliver.
All that said, this new Astro Bot PS5 bundle is about as underwhelming as it could be for me. You do get the PlayStation 5 Slim Console with the disk drive and 1TB of storage alongside a digital copy of a game folks seem to love at $449.00. But to answer my question from above, you definitely do not get that sweet special edition Astro Bot controller here.

Announcing the PS5 console Astro Bot Bundle, including the console itself and Astro’s biggest adventure yet. Available at select retailers globally starting this week.
Astro Bot is a beloved game by many and the PS5 slim is a great console, so I guess we shouldn’t be too hard on the whole thing. Another thing to keep in mind here is the price – Sony is selling this package for $449.99, which is $110 under the price of buying the console and the game at full list. And we are talking about a pair of items that rarely ever see deep sales.
Either way, Astro Bot is now being sold bundled with his mothership and the new package is scheduled to go up for sale on March 13.
