In an industry where prices just seem to keep going up on both software and hardware, Sony has just announced an official price cut coming to PlayStation VR2. The PS VR2 system has seen its fair share of direct competition from the likes of Meta Quest 3 and others, but Sony is now looking to get more aggressive with its recommended retail pricing on its current-generation PS VR2 to entice gamers to jump into its virtual reality gaming platform through 2025 and into the holiday season come year’s end.
Official price cut hits PS VR2
As I’m sure you’re imagining, the new suggested retail price isn’t going to compare to the deals we tracked on the system or its Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle over the holidays last year – there were straight up $200 price drops that had it lower than the new official price tags being announced today. But with the official price dropping, that likely means inbound deals through 2025 and during sale events at the major retailers could very well yield the lowest prices we have ever seen and potentially well before the holiday discounts land later this year.
Here’s what Sony had to say about the price cut: “For those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to jump into PlayStation VR2 and experience what this generation’s innovative virtual reality system has to offer, we are happy to share some great news! Starting in March, we’re reducing the recommended retail price (RRP) of PS VR2.”
The price cut is scheduled to begin to go live starting next month, but Sony added that the new prices and bundle availability may “vary by country/region, so be sure to check your local retailer for details.” As of right now the system is actually quite difficult to get a hold of online from Amazon and Best Buy.
Now dropping from the regular $449 and $499, the standard bundle and the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle are notably soon to be listed at the same price:

PlayStation VR2
$399.99 / €449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980 recommended retail price (includes tax for EUR, GBP, and JPY)
- Includes PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones

PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle
$399.99 / €449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980 recommended retail price (includes tax for EUR, GBP, and JPY)
- Includes PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain, PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones
