Amazon debuted its new family of next-generation Kindle readers last fall with a refreshed base model, the most powerful Paperwhite yet, a reimagined Kindle Scribe, and perhaps the most exciting of all, the very first model with a color display, the Kindle Colorsoft. Fast-forward to today, and we are looking at one of the first chances to save some cash on the new Colorsoft with a solid $50 price drop.
Today’s deal has the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (32 GB) down at $229.99 shipped. Regularly $280, this is $50 off, only the second time it has gone on sale since release, and matching the all-time low price.
One thing to watch out for is this: There are two listings for the Kindle Colorsoft – the base model and the Signature Edition. Both of them are now at $229.99 shipped and both have the same 32GB of storage. But the Signature Edition includes three FREE months of Kindle Unlimited you won’t get on the base model:

All of that aside, let’s talk specs and features. The new kindle Colorsoft features a a 7-inch display with “paper-like color that brings covers and content to life.” The actual text pages remain mostly black and white (unless there are incline images), you know…like a book, but you can browse your library and book covers in full glorious color as well as make use of color highlighter action – “highlight your favorite scenes in yellow, orange, blue, and pink.”
Try the Page Color feature to invert the black text and white background of pages inside books. While different than Dark Mode, it enables comfortable reading while still displaying colorful images and covers.
From there, you can expect a single charge over USB-C to deliver up to 8 weeks of battery life as well as a waterproof design so you read by the pool, in the bath, and so on.
