Update: A trailer was also leaked with the same release date – it looks as though this announcement was intended for a rumored upcoming State of the Play showcase (could be next week).
We have been tricked before, but it looks like the official PlayStation store just revealed the release date for the highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The long-awaited and much anticipated remake of not only one of the best games in the series but perhaps ever (according to me), is now scheduled to release in late August. But is this any indication of when Switch 2 will release? Check out the details below.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date
Back in June of last year GameStop “accidentally” tweeted a November 17, 2024 release date for the new MGS Delta. It was very wrong, mistaken, or just playing us all “like a damn fiddle.”
However, a new listing on the official PlayStation Store has seemingly given an actual release date for the game:
Releases on: 8/28/2025 12:00 AM EDT
Now, this of course could be another mistake, or some kind of placeholder, but after skipping well past 2024, and rumors of the gaming landing as a Switch 2 launch title, this might very well be the real thing. And if it is, we expect Sony and/or Konami, perhaps even Xbox, to officially reveal this date at any time now.
“Kept you waiting huh?”
Yes Snake, waaaay too long.
This potential release date comes on the heels of credible sources claiming the new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater would be a launch title for Switch 2, or at least “one of the first games” out for the new Nintendo console. Does this August 28 release date give us any indication as to when Switch 2 will hit? It’s hard to say, for now anyway.
