Target is now offering a rare deal on the official 1-meter Apple Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) Pro Cable at $34.99. Free shipping is available on orders of $35 or more, with a Target Circle 360 membership, or when checking out with a Target Circle Card. Otherwise, add a small filler item for under $1 to your order. This is a $69 cable seeing a solid 50% price drop and an extremely rare one at that. While Apple has replaced its lineup with Thunderbolt 5 cables at this point along with the ports on its latest Mac lineup, you’ll be paying $69 for its faster transfer rates and we expect price drops on that model to be just as rare as they were on the Thunderbolt 4 variant we have at 50% off here today.
There’s no denying how much faster a transfer rate the new Thunderbolt 5 models can deliver. But at this point most of the peripherals/systems most folks use can barely take advantage of that and, all things considered, the 40Gb/s over Thunderbolt 4 and 10Gb/s USB 3.2 data transfer rate on the 4 series model is more than enough for most.
There are certainly more affordable options out there, but some folks love their first-party Apple accessories and I have experienced some annoying issues with the low quality Thunderbolt cables in the past – audio interfaces, select displays, lower than rate stranger rates on select portable SSDs.
According to Apple, its Thunderbolt 4 USB-C Pro Cable delivers a tangle-free braided build that spans 1 meter in length and supports “Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, and USB 4 data transfer up to 40Gb/s.” That’s on top of the USB 3 data transfer at up to 10Gb/s, DisplayPort video output (HBR3), and 100W charging action.
