Here’s a launch deal on the brand new Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for Switch at $50

First deal $50

The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially arrived, completely overshadowing Donkey Kong’s big release day. But worry not banana hunters, Woot isn’t letting Nintendo or the Tiki Tak Tribe take all the shine today as it is now offering a day 1 price drop on the new Donkey Kong Country Returns HD remake for Switch at $49.99 Prime shipped (a $6 delivery fee will apply otherwise). Regularly $60, this is the very first price drop and, subsequently, the first chance to save on the game outside of the Nintendo Switch Online game voucher offers (digital only, and you have to buy two games).

While it is easy to complain that Nintendo has gone a bit overboard with the remakes over the last year or two (or more) on Switch, many of them have been quite good and, by just about all accounts, the Donkey Kong Country Returns HD remake is one of the better ones.

Compiling all of the content from the previous re-releases into one (at least for now) definitive edition of the game, despite the fact that this is largely a fresh coat of paint that does away with some of the motion waggle controls of past iterations, it is a solid remake and the first, let’s call it, relatively fresh DK experience on a Nintendo console since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze released way back in 2018.

These day 1 Woot deals can tend to sell out quickly, so be sure to jump in while you still can if you haven’t secured a copy yet.

Everything you need to know about Switch 2 is right here and the rest of today’s game deals await in this morning’s roundup

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD features:

  • Jump, roll, and stomp through Donkey Kong Island in this 2D platforming adventure
  • Help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong recover their precious banana hoard from the villainous Tiki Tak Tribe in Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for Nintendo Switch! Stomp enemies, blast through barrels, and ride rockets and mine carts (and even Rambi the rhino) in 80 levels across nine worlds.
  • Play the game as it was first designed for Wii, or reduce the difficulty for extra hearts and other goodies to make your journey a little easier. This barrel-blasting adventure is visually enhanced in HD for Nintendo Switch and includes the extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS version!
  • Team up with a friend and take on the whole game as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong
