Nimble, a tech accessory brand we have featured in the past that is specifically focused on creating carbon neutral, environmentally-conscious gear, has recently launched its latest slate of charging gear for Apple’s latest tech. Now available exclusively in Apple retail locations and on the official Apple online storefront, the lineup delivers on the popular Qi2 15W power trend with a new 3-in-1 PODIUM charger, a FOLD(able) variant, a dedicated Apple Watch stand, and the one that really caught our eye, the new VALET 3-in-1 Wireless Charger. Scope them all out down below.
New Nimble carbon-neutral wood and aloe leather Valet charger
Nimble’s mantra is “Tech for Good” with a focus on cruelty-free leather alternatives, 100% post-consumer plastics, natural materials, and a carbon neutral footprint. This is something it has been striving towards and successfully achieving for years now, and something that carries through to its latest lineup of gear.
Beyond that, there’s nothing particularly remarkable about most of the new charging solutions, but as mentioned above, the new Nimble VALET 3-in-1 did our catch our eye.
In an accessory space that is flooded with options with more brands than you can count, it is particularly difficult to stand out from the crowd, especially with the proliferation of Qi2 – just about everything, from budget-bin brands right through to the premium offerings, can deliver 15W of juice via MagSafe these days.
But the new Nimble VALET 3-in-1 at the very least is presenting a form-factor and build aesthetic that does find a way to separate itself from the near endless run of plastic and metal models. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Nomad metal and glass charger, and even the metal Satechi 3-in-1, the natural wood and aloe leather on the VALET is calling my name.
As far as the actual charging action goes, there’s not a ton to write home about, at least nothing we haven’t seen before a bazillion times by now – 15W MagSafe charging on the main angle-adjustable iPhone stand, Apple Watch fast charging on the pop-up wearable charger, and a third Qi pad specifically for your AirPods case.
Enjoy 2x faster charging (up to 15W), better efficiency, and universal compatibility. With enhanced safety and optimized energy transfer, Qi2 ensures every charge is speedy, reliable, and ready for the latest devices.
It’s namesake design comes by way of the additional space it provides to stow some of your daily carry – your keys, a wallet perhaps, this kind of thing. I have always been a fan of this sort of design, as it acts as a literal catch-all for everything you likely need when you leave the house in the morning and offers a spot to neatly unload it at the end of the day.
But where the Nimble VALET really shines for me is the build, not only does it make use of 100% REPLAY certified post-consumer plastic and aluminum, but you’ll also find the entire top surface wrapped in a sustainable aloe leather framed with a dark walnut wood treatment that really adds a touch of elegance to the aesthetic here.
Bound in 100% Aloe Leather—a premium alternative to traditional animal leather that’s just as durable, yet softer, lighter and naturally water-resistant. With less water and few chemicals needed to produce, Aloe Leather is as ethical as it is beautiful, enhancing your charging experience in any setting.
I’m also happy to report that Nimble ships the new Valet with a 36W USB-C power adapter and the 1.5m USB-C cable you’ll need to hook it up in the box – this something far too many of the higher-end solutions side-step if you ask me.
That said, it ought to include all of that at a $149.95 asking price. This isn’t all that much more expensive, if at all, than some of the higher-end solutions out there from brands we feature on a regular basis, sure, but it is a touch more pricey than your average top-tier third-party accessory maker – all things considered with real wood finishes, a dedication to environmental-conscious practices, and the Apple-store exclusivity, it is to be expected.
