Razer has taken the wraps off a new docking station called the Razer USB 4 Dock. This all-in-one hub, as the name implies, is powered by USB 4, and it’s a versatile unit that adds as many as 14 ports to improve your workstation, making it easier to connect all your favorite peripherals to your PC. This new Razer USB 4 dock costs $229.99 shipped and it’s now available to purchase on Amazon in Black and Mercury colorways. Head below for a closer look and some more details on what this USB hub brings to your desk.
USB 4, for those that don’t know, is a new universal standard, and it can do pretty much everything Thunderbolt 4 can do without the expensive licensing. Razer’s new dock takes advantage of the new USB 4 standard and delivers a solid 14-in-1 solution to help you easily connect all your accessories. One of the highlights of this new USB 4 Dock is that it’s made of CNC anodized aluminum, making it look more premium than many other options on the market. It also has a fairly compact form factor and is relatively smaller than some other alternatives out there on the market like the Anker Prime 14-in-1 docking station.
As far as the ports are concerned, you’re looking at four USB Type-A ports, two USB-C ports, two display outputs (HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4), SD and microSD card slots, a gigabit Ethernet, and a multipurpose 3.5mm audio jack. There’s a USB-A port on the side, which Razer says is specifically designed for 2.4GHz wireless dongles, and you also get a 100W USB4 upstream port to juice your device. The display ports, in case you’re wondering, support up to 4K at 120Hz or FHD at 240Hz.
The new USB 4 dock is clearly missing some RGB lighting, but it more than makes up for it with its all-metal casing that should be able to hold up quite well in the long run. This is one of the better options on the market right now for folks who are looking to pick up a reliable USB-C docking station, and it also has a very minimal and low-profile design overall.
Razer’s new USB 4 Dock, as previously mentioned, is now available to purchase from Amazon in Black and Mercury colorways. It’ll cost you $229.99 shipped, which is just in line with – if not cheaper than – many other Thunderbolt 4 docks on the market from the likes of Plugable, CalDigit, and more.
