LEGO introduces new Icons The Endurance set and GWP that begins its voyage on Black Friday

New set! BF special

Following right in the wake of LEGO’s recent monthly release of its newest sets – and the accompanying GWP promos (sadly the 6546714 Cerebro set has sold out) – LEGO is revealing an all-new build that is set to make landfall during Black Friday. We mentioned in our monthly coverage that we expected some surprises to be unveiled ahead of the savings event, and it looks like the first of them is dropping with the introduction of the LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance. This exclusive recreation of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s famous Antarctic trekking ship will be hitting the shelves the day of Black Friday as the latest addition to the Icons theme – plus, there’s even a complementary GWP you’ll get too! Head below to learn more and see the collected photos.

LEGO’s Icons 10335 The Endurance is a fitting addition to the Icons theme, especially for history lovers and model ship fans, as it pays homage to the famous Trans-Antarctic Expedition led by Sir Ernest Shackleton from 1914 to 1917. Scheduled to release on November 29, 2024, it’s been given a $269.99 price tag. There’s no pre-order option here, FYI, as the LEGO Group is keeping things exclusively tied to the actual day of Black Friday as one of its special offers, so be sure to jump on it fast the day of – there’s no telling how long it may last. Along with your purchase between November 29, 2024 and December 2, 2024, you’ll also get the 40729 Shakleton’s LifeBoat GWP while supplies last.

Stacking up to 3,011 pieces, this is a sizeable and substantial model (though it doesn’t reach the enormous size of the 10294 Titanic build), coming in at 18.5 inches high, 31.5 inches long, and 9.5 inches wide. As I said, I’m sure history enthusiasts and model ship builders will definitely enjoy it, especially with its classic model ship display setup. For those who may not know the inspiration behind the kit, in 1914 The Endurance, captained by Sir Ernest Shackleton, set out for the south pole for the first time in human history.

In early 1915, The Endurance became trapped in ice for almost a year, drifting along with it until it was ultimately crushed from the pressure and forced the crew to abandon it. Making camp on the ice, the crew persevered through the extreme cold and made their way in lifeboats to Elephant Island, before making an 800-mile open-boat journey back across the Southern Ocean to South Georgia Island, where a proper rescue was organized. All 28 men survived and now their adventure is encapsulated in this iconic brick-built form.
