New iPad mini 7 sees very first cash discount today starting at $484, or from $239 with trade-in

While we saw one configuration drop below MSRP yesterday, the entry-level 128GB configurations of Apple’s brand new iPad mini 7 are now seeing their very first price drops at Amazon. As per usual, these early deals on the brand new Apple release aren’t particularly deep, but you can land any color right now at $484 shipped – the lowest price we have tracked to date outside of the Best Buy trade-in values that can net you one for $239 with a mini 6 flip. 

This is indeed a $499 iPad, so we are only talking about a $15 price drop here. But this is gadgetnewsonline and every single dollar counts. Folks looking to pick one up right now that don’t have any gear to trade-in to bring the price down further (keep in mind, just about any iPad will help the cause with a trade-in though) might as well as save the $15 – you can take your new mini 7 out for lunch with the savings. 

All three storage configurations in all four colors are now seeing light markdowns at Amazon that deliver the best cash discounts to date:

• iPad mini A17 Pro 256GB $779 

The new iPad mini comes running on the A17 Pro chip, a marked jump up from the A15 in the previous-gen mini 6 – this allows it to work with the upcoming Apple Intelligence ecosystem. You’re also looking at a 30% boost in CPU performance and a 25% jump in GPU power, but perhaps most notable of all, they start with 128GB of RAM this time. While the display is basically identical to the previous model, the new mini offer support for the 2024 Apple Pencil Pro (now on sale for $94.99) as well as the USB-C model (on sale down at $69).
