MUJJO, much like year’s past, was among the first leather case makers out of the gate when iPhone 16 was unveiled. I have been a fan of the brand’s leather treatments for at least a couple generations now, and with some new color options landing for iPhone 16, was excited to give them a test for 2024. While the initial run of these case had a Camera Control button that wasn’t up to the task, it has now re-issued with corrections, readied replacements for early adopters, and I am here to see if it all worked out.

gadgetnewsonline’ Take
MUJJO is an award-winning case brand, a gadgetnewsonline award-winning brand that is as it was chosen as our favorite leather case in our year’s end roundup of the best iPhone 15 covers. We clearly had high-hopes this time around for its latest lineup.
Made from fine-grain Danish calfskin leather, “tanned without a single drop of water,” today we are focusing in on the brand’s Full Leather Case for iPhone 16. But you will find these materials throughout its lineup, so much of our thoughts here do carry over to other models.
Firstly, I have to say I am once again a fan of the leather treatment here. MUJJO uses a wonderful leather with a full wrap job that carries throughout the entire case. It’s not as tumbled and natural-feeling as something from some of the other brands we have already reviewed this year, but it is clearly a high-quality treatment, if not a touch too smooth and tight for my tastes – you could have convinced me this was a vegan leather treatment had I not already known. Having said all that, I really liked last year’s MUJJO leather treatment, really like this year’s, and you probably will too if you’re into to the super sleek leather applications.
One thing I think helps MUJJO standout, at least to some degree, in the leather iPhone 16 case category is its color options. While many of the top brands in this space stick to the traditional black and brown vibe, MUJJO has once again expanded its offerings alongside the vibrant Monaco Blue with a pair of green colorways – the model you see featured here is the Livid Green. It’s not unheard of to see more vibrant leather treatments by any means, but MUJJO has traditionally been one of the best to do it in my opinion and there are two new colorways to choose from this year.
I particularly love the way the Livid Green works with Apple’s golden Desert titanium.
The MagSafe array has been totally solid and reliable, and the brand is once again employing a soft Japanese microfibre lining on the inside the grace the exterior of your iPhone 16 – I very much like this and, as I have said in the past, expect it at this price point.
MUJJO has always made some of the better machined metal button covers, matching the case color you chose perfectly with a slightly darker hue that looks wonderful in my opinion – this vibe also carries through to the raised bezel around the camera array. While I still prefer the accent gunmetal brand’s like Nomad make use of, MUJJO’s are just as good and you won’t be disappointed if you like the look of them in pictures online.
But this brings us to the same place every iPhone 16 review will inevitably land…the Camera Control cutout. MUJJO had a rough go of it with its early iPhone 16 run, but it has since opted to reissue all models with larger, more accessible cutouts as well as offer all customers (we are told) replacements who purchased the early cases. Nice. This shouldn’t have been the case in the first place, but nice nonetheless.
Did MUJJO actually correct the issue properly? Mostly, yes.
It is still a tiny bit more cumbersome to get my finger in there than I would like, but it does work for sure. Accessing the Camera Control button for a single click works perfectly, leveraging the sliding gesture is pretty good too, but the double press action is where you notice the cutout not being quite perfect. Or at least I do.
You can indeed still use the Camera Control button just fine, but I personally would have preferred the whole outer edge of the cutout be a little more sloped towards the Camera Control button itself.
If you love the look of this case and don’t plan on getting super pro or detailed about the Camera Control gestures on a constant basis, you likely won’t find the new cutout to be a problem. I’m just trying to provide as much detail as possible for folks that might really want to put the new multi-gesture action to use, and often.
But, if it wasn’t already obvious by now, the cutout is really the only minor flaw I can find on the MUJJO case. I love the interior, I love the metal button covers, and I particularly love the vibrant but yet some how kind of moody Livid Green treatment on the model I had a chance to test this year (I have previously scoped out is Monaco Blue and brown – they are also great).
