New leak! First look

These last few weeks have been buys with plenty of LEGO news and reveals keeping excitement abuzz and now today we’re getting another first look at a new upcoming set for the nomadic spirits among you. Courtesy of German retailer, Alternate, we’re getting the first leaked images of the peculiar new 41838 Family Travel Moments set that is slated to release this coming October, and which seems to be part of a new LEGO sub-theme after seeing its unique packaging.

Emphasizing the word “family,” while also heavily leaning into the idea of “building together” within the box art, the new 41838 Family Travel Moments set seems to keep family-time in mind – especially those families who travel and experience the vastness of our world together. Currently slated for a release date of October 1, 2024, we have no mention yet as to what its American pricing will be, though we are aware that it is listed for €122.90 in Germany.

Stacking up to 1,231 pieces, this building set features a flat, compact map of Earth, which flat earthers may decide to rally around as propaganda for their disproven cause. Regardless, its a rather funny and peculiar thing to see LEGO’s symbolism fall so close to the conspiracy theory here. Outside the buildable world map – which has the option to be hung on the wall like a smaller version of the 31203 World Map set – you’ll also be getting 20 location tiles to mark destinations that the family has visited together, as well as 10 photo holders for your best, most iconic memories.

There’s also a small model plane build that goes along with it, dubbed the World Wonderliner, no doubt a reference to the winning final build of LEGO Masters USA Season 4 by contestants, Chris and Robert, as pointed out by Jay’s Brick Blog. It was announced at the top of the season that the winning build would get turned into an official LEGO set, and from the looks of everything, this might just be the set in question, though Chris and Robert’s original build was far more massive and impressive.

We will update you with more information and pictures as it becomes available to us.
