Prime Day 2024: Prepare for the biggest sale event of the year, Prime membership deals, more

Amazon Prime Day 2024

Amazon Prime Day is quickly approaching now, scheduled to take flight in about one-month’s time with what is primed to be the biggest deal event of the year thus far. Amazon stepped in this year with a new Big Spring Sale to take us out of the winter months with some solid discount opportunities across just about all major categories, but it wasn’t on the same level as last year’s Prime events, and certainly not what we are expecting for next month’s summer Prime Day sale. These events can sometimes feel like a cash grab, Amazon and the brands it carries just trying to bolster sales, and that is the case, but they are also a fantastic chance to save cash while bringing home the gear and essentials you need for the rest of the year and beyond.

Get ready for Amazon Prime Day 2024

Amazon has already confirmed the July Prime Day event – its 10th annual in fact, but the actual dates remain shrouded and secrecy thus far – the only thing we know right now is that it is indeed happening in July.

When is Prime Day?

The first Prime Day is next month

Last year’s 48-hour event took place from July 12 through 13 – the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month – and it will likely (almost certainly) be another 2-day event this year. If we had to venture a guess, it is looking like the first 2024 Prime Day event will take place on July 9 and 10 – the second week of the month. But it might very well land the following week on July 16 and 17. Amazon tends to place these events in the middle of the week and month like this, and if year’s past are any indication, it will once again for 2024.

Make sure your Prime membership is in order

No Prime membership, no Prime deals

Prime Day started way back in 2015 as a way for Amazon to celebrate its Prime membership and to bolster sign-ups by way of offering exclusive deals on top of the free shipping, music streaming, Prime video streaming, and other perks members are privy too. All of that very much remains these days, just in a much bigger way with huge price drops across every major product categories, and as such, you will need to be a Prime member to take advantage of them.

If you’re not already a Prime member, signing up for a FREE trial (you can do so right here) is a great way to get in on the action without dedicating yourself to the monthly/yearly fee. Just note the trial will automatically renew for a year or monthly unless you cancel it manually. Prime memberships cost $14.99 per month or $139 per year if you pay annually.

How do I get a deal on Amazon Prime membership?

Deals on Amazon Prime memberships are few and far between, but there are some avenues with which to save – two in fact.

The first is Prime Access. It is available to eligible members at $6.99 per month. It provides the exact same benefits of a standard membership but is only available to those that can provide proof of participation from the following government assistance programs:

  • SNAP EBT
  • Medicaid
  • Woman, Infants, and Children Program (WIC)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Direct Express Debit Card (DE)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Tribal Assistance Eligibility Letter (TTANF)
  • Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)

If you are eligible, be sure to visit this page to sign up. Those who are already Prime members and eligible for Prime Access can update their membership to Prime Access right here. You must revivify your eligibility every 12 months, but you can also share Prime benefits with family members as well through Amazon Household

The second way to save on a Prime membership is with Prime Student. This options is specifically for what Amazon refers to as higher-education students – it too provides all of the benefits of a Prime membership, just at a discounted $7.49 per month or $69 per year. There are also some other benefits like a FREE year of Grubhub+ membership, 60% off Course Hero subscriptions, and as much as 10% off flights and hotels through StudentUniverse. Visit the Prime Student page to sign up

How to get the best deals on Prime Day?

Well, that’s an easy one, follow gadgetnewsonline on Twitter, Facebook, down the gadgetnewsonline iOS app, and subscribe to our twice daily email newsletters. Our entire staff will be scraping the pages of Amazon and leveraging our in-house analysis tools to highlight the best deals literally around the clock come Prime Day. We do not sleep, we do not stop, and we will not pat full price around here, an neither will you  if you’re along for the ride. With so many thousands of products going on sale, large and small, boutique and big box, it can be daunting task, but we have well over a decade of experience (it’s much more than that, but decade sounds good) doing this sort of thing, and will make sure the best-of-the-best is from and center the second the clock strikes 12 on start day (and frankly, some deals will be starting before the actually announced start day, we’ll have those for you too).

Hoard those Amazon gift cards…Prime Day is coming

But on top of that, the only way to save even more than the deals Amazon and its brand partners will be serving up come Prime Day in July is by hoarding Amazon gift cards. We will be keeping our eye out for discounted Amazon gift cards, but you can also score them with select purchases right now like this $50 Amazon gift card on the new Google Pixel 8a – keep an eye on our social feeds for more of these over the next few weeks.

How do I find the best Prime Day deals?

As mentioned above, we will do it for you…all day and night for 48-straight hours, and like at least week beforehand. However, if you’re feeling frisky, Amazon’s Gold Box page will flip over to its Prime Day deal hub when the clock strikes midnight (PT) when the event starts, with absolute gigantic (sort of mess) of deals waiting for you right here. Often times there are product categories to help organize them, but that hasn’t been the case as of late.

What are the best Prime Day deals in 2024?

Amazon hasn’t said yet, and even once it does officially announce the date, the details on the actual deals tend to be extremely vague at best. There are sometimes some in-house tech that sees doorbuster-like pricing, but it only lasts for mere minutes (if that), and lately it has switched over to an invite only system where you have to sign up for specific deals ahead of time and hope to get picked – I have signed for these deals in the past within seconds of the invite going live and still been invited…just saying. You might get lucky.

The best Apple Prime Day deals, the best headphone Prime Day deals, the best smart home Prime Day deals, and so and so forth will all be right here at gadgetnewsonline, because that’s what do all day everyday professionally.
