LEGO Dune Ornithopter

LEGO Dune is actually happening. Earlier this year, we were able to break the news that the LEGO Group was planning on bringing one of the more iconic vehicles out of the sci-fi series, and now we’re getting a first look at the set. The new LEGO Dune Ornithopter won’t be releasing until next year, but you can feast your eyes on its over 1,300-piece build in the meantime.

We first reported on a LEGO Dune set back in July with our first coverage of the new Ornithopter set. Our report was right on the money, as now we’re seeing all of the details that make up the official build. The new kit will be arriving at the start of next year under the official name of the Atreides Royal Ornithopter – which is LEGO set number 10327. It’s part of the Icons lineup, which is what the company has been reserving for its more collectible kits.

The main part of the build is of course the Ornithopter, which includes 1,369 pieces. The vehicle measures over 22 inches long and with a 31-inch wingspan. There’s folding landing gear and moving blades for the dragonfly-like wings on the wide.

The included minifigures are just as exciting for the first-ever Dune set, with a whole cast of characters from the movie. There’s a total of eight figures making the cut, including Paul Atreides, Chani, Duncan Idaho, and Baron Harkonnen. Other inclusions give Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Leto Atreides, and Liet Kyne the brick-built treatment.

Back when we initially covered the Dune Ornithopter, we expected the set to debut in November. But with the sequel to Dune being delayed from theaters, it only makes sense that the LEGO Group would be looking to delay the companion set. It’ll now launch on February 1, 2024. The set retails for $164.99 and is now available for pre-order ahead of time.

In the meantime, be sure to check out all of the details in the upcoming kit now that we have official images to share.
