LEGO Diagon Alley

LEGO has spent 2018 bringing back one of its most popular lines of kits from retirement. Having released a batch of new Harry Potter sets, including the massive Hogwarts Castle, LEGO has produced a new micro-scale kit. The 374-piece LEGO Diagon Alley set is the latest from the Wizarding World. Head below to find out how you can add it to your collection.

Offering free kits with select purchase isn’t anything new for LEGO. In the past we’ve seen the company use promotional items to ramp up production for its Plants from Plants bricks and more. For its latest offering, LEGO is opting to close out the year with one final Hogwarts-themed build.

The new Diagon Alley kit stacks up to 374 pieces and recreates five different storefronts from the Harry Potter franchise. You’ll be able to assemble Gringotts Bank, Ollivanders Wand Shop, Flourish and Blotts, Quality Quidditch Supplies, and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

The build has designed to fit in perfectly with the Hogwarts Castle. And seeing how the Harry Potter universe is filled with locations that would make perfect add-on kits to the Castle, the Diagon Alley release will hopefully be the first of many new additions. It also includes a Mr. Ollivander minifigure, adding yet another character to the long lineup of Harry Potter figures.

The new Harry Potter Diagon Alley set will be available from November 9th. Those who spend over $99 at their local LEGO store or online will score this 374-piece kit for free. This promotion ends on November 21st, which is a bit of a let down.

LEGO choosing to stop the offer just before its Black Friday sale begins is disappointing. Given that many shoppers are more likely to exceed the order minimum, all of the other promotions the company is offering incentivize holding out until after Thanksgiving to make any big purchases.

Taking advantage of this promotion will likely be the only way to officially get your hands on the set. That is, unless you’re willing to pay a premium on the aftermarket down the road. So shoppers will have to decide if forgoing LEGO’s Black Friday deals to pick up the exclusive set is worth it.

Because LEGO is marketing this is an expansion of the Hogwarts Castle, it’s hard to pass up. The upcoming kit does a fantastic job at recreating the in-universe inspiration and is definitely going to be a must-have for Harry Potter fans.
