If you’re like me, then you likely have multiple Amazon packages coming to your house every week. Ok, hopefully, you’re not like me. But, in case you are, sometimes it’s a little crazy to get packages every day (or every other day) from the online shopping giant.
With the holidays coming up, you might want to make sure that you’re home when important things come. Amazon’s new program can help with this. It’s called “Amazon Day”, and it lets you pick a specific day for your packages to be delivered.
Amazon Day vs Prime Day
You might confuse Amazon Day with Prime Day, but the two couldn’t be more different. Prime Day is an event where Amazon discounts millions of items to prices otherwise unheard of.
Amazon Day, on the other hand, is a new service that Amazon plans to offer which will change your delivery schedule.
Is Amazon Day different from Prime?
Currently, Prime members get free two-day shipping (or one-day, or same-day, depending on your area). Amazon Day would forgo the normal 2-day shipping arrangement and combine your orders, delivering them on a set day every week.
This means that if you have Wednesday set as your delivery day, orders placed on Thursday won’t arrive until the following Wednesday. This can help you from getting packages when you’re not home, and Amazon says that the company will ship as few packages as possible.
This not only helps you avoid receiving 10 packages on a single day due to separate orders, but also helps Amazon’s bottom line. Think about it, if the company can ship you two larger boxes per week instead of 10+ smaller ones, that saves them on shipping costs, material costs, and labor.
When will Amazon Day be available?
That’s to be determined. There is no set timeframe when Amazon Day will receive a full rollout. As spotted by CNET, Amazon is slowly rolling out this option to its Prime members in the US. Hopefully, this will be available in time for Black Friday and holiday shopping. This will give shoppers the ability to schedule deliveries for a single day of the week, making sure they’re home to accept all of the holiday shopping goodies.
Personally, I won’t use Amazon Day, as I prefer to click “Order” and have the items show up as quickly as possible. But, I have the luxury of working from home, so I’m always available to accept deliveries. However, I’m sure this will be a valuable new feature for many users.
