Lenovo shoots for the stars with its crazy USS Enterprise high-end computer

Lenovo has quite a bit of experience in the computer realm. The company is over 30 years old, and these days many people will buy Lenovo’s ThinkPad brand or even high-end gaming machines.

One area I didn’t expect Lenovo to get into, at least not like this, was custom designed gaming computers. The company recently announced a Star Trek USS Enterprise high-end computer at its Tech World Conference in Beijing. This uniquely designed computer could become a must-have for Trekkies around the world.

This custom designed computer has quite the list of unique and high-end componentry. Website MyDrivers was at Lenovo’s Tech World Conference 2018 and was able to snap some pictures of the specs and information surrounding this unique PC.

Lenovo will allow customers to put up to a Core i9 processor (overclocked to 120W), the GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, 32GB of RAM, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, and 2TB hard drive. There’s also Killer LAN + Killer Wi-Fi for networking, so you can browse at break-neck speeds.

There’s also RGB with app-connected strips so you can customize how the USS Enterprise lights up on your desk. There’s another area that makes this tower unique, however.

Built into the chassis is a 400 Lumen protector. This means you can use the USS Enterprise computer from Lenovo completely standalone without the need for an external monitor. This will be perfect for Trekkies as it’s just one more “nerdy” feature for this awesomely designed computer.

With the specs that Lenovo gave it, this machine is designed for more than just looks. You will be able to render out just about any video project, photo, or video game while using a stylish and likely limited edition desktop. This will be a conversation starter, and would even make a great work machine if you need something with this much power, and have the cash to throw around.

Any Star Trek fan, or nerd in general, would kill just to have this machine on their desk. It won’t come cheap, though it is less than I expected it to be.

It’s said that pricing will start around the $2,200 mark in China, and no release for the US has been announced at this time.

I would absolutely love to get my hands on this computer, but that likely won’t happen since it might never see a US-based release.

What do you think? If first-party companies started to come out with custom systems like this, would you buy them? Let us know down below in the comments or on social media!
