Amazon Prime Day 2019

We’re just a few weeks away from Prime Day 2018, Amazon’s biggest shopping event of the summer. Last week we told you all of the details that we know to this point and now we’re going to dive into how you should be prepping ahead of time. Prime Day is loaded with deals, and many of them sell out very quickly, so it’s imperative that you’re ready to go before the big day. Head below for our guide on how you can make the most of Prime Day 2018.

Prime Membership |

While it may seem obvious, you’ll want to make sure that your Prime membership is active and up-to-date before venturing into Prime Day. Amazon recently bumped up the price to $119 annually, which is a $20 increase from the typical going rate that we’ve seen in recent years.

If you’re unsure about jumping all in at that price, you can opt for a free 30-day trial and enjoy all the perks of Prime Day. At this point, we’re eyeing July 10th as the likely date for this year’s event, but just to be safe you can wait a few more weeks to be sure your trial is active when the big day arrives.

Update your credit cards, shipping info, and 1-click |

When the deals start flying off the virtual shelves, you’ll want to be certain that your account is prepped. Now that you’re Prime membership is all set up, it’s time to check on those credit cards. The last thing you want to happen is to miss out on a deal because your preferred payment has expired. While you’re at it, be sure to make certain that any stored shipping addresses are accurate.

Amazon’s 1-click purchase can be a hot-button topic for some. Accidental purchase (by you, your kids or spouse) can make this nifty feature a pain in the neck if not used properly. Whether you have it turned on right now or not, it’s a wise move for Prime Day. With deals often coming and going quickly, using 1-click purchasing can ensure that you don’t miss out on the best offers.

Consider Alexa |

Ever since Amazon unveiled its first Echo device a few years ago, it’s gradually been making Alexa a larger part of each Prime Day and holiday season. In recent years, that’s included Alexa-exclusive deals or offering early access to some promotions. If you’re not on the Alexa train yet, now is a great time to purchase one of Amazon’s smart speakers. Nearly the entire lineup is on sale with deals starting at just $40.
