The Switch has been an absolute hit thanks to its roster of system-selling titles and the ability to play your favorite games on the big screen or even on-the-go. And when it comes to getting the most out of the console during your time spent out and about, outfitting the Switch with a mobile power pack has been a common solution. That was the case, until third-party charging accessories began bricking consoles.
While that’s apparently fixed, today Anker, in partnership with Nintendo, is debuting a new pair of power banks geared specifically for Nintendo’s latest console. Coming in two different-sized configurations, Anker’s new offerings will be perfect accessories for both casual and more hardcore Switch gamers. Be sure to hit the jump for the full details.
The first of Anker’s new power banks, the appropriately named PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch, packs a sizable 13400mAh internal battery. That’s enough to recharge your console 1.7 times over and equates to an additional ten hours of fighting Bokoblins in Breath of the Wild or collecting Power Moons in Mario Odyssey. The PowerCore’s design is in-line with just about every other Anker power bank on the market, but this one boasts some Nintendo insignias on the outer casing.
Stepping things up a notch, Anker’s second power pack boasts a much larger 20100mAh built-in battery. The PowerCore 20100 rocks a larger form-factor than its lower-spec’d alternative and nets you an additional 15 hours of gameplay, or two and a half full Switch charges. It sports similar Nintendo Switch logos.
Both of the chargers are designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch, meaning there’s no fear over having your beloved console bricked and gameplay data wiped. On each of the new chargers you’ll find a single 2A USB port for charging your phone or other devices alongside a 3A USB-C input that acts as both the PowerCore’s charger and how you power up the Switch.
With the summer months just right around the corner, odds are good there will be a lot more Switch gaming on-the-go and Anker’s new power banks look to be some of the best ways to keep your console full of juice through long gameplay sessions.
As of now, both models are available for pre-order directly from Anker, with the smaller 13400mAh model selling for $70, and the larger 20100mAh version going for $90.
Thanks to the Nintendo seal of the approval, these do enter with slightly higher price tags than other similarly featured power banks. But with the peace of mind that both new PowerCore chargers won’t cause issues for the Switch, I’m sure many will see past the slight premium.

Bellevue, WA (June 7, 2018) — Anker Innovations, a global leader in charging technology and smart, consumer devices, today announced it will launch a series of portable power banks designed to bring hours of additional playtime to the Nintendo Switch.
Anker’s PowerCore 20100 and PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch Edition will be the first-ever officially licensed Nintendo batteries to bring USB-C power delivery to the Nintendo Switch, giving gamers up to 15 hours of additional playtime.
U.S. customers will be able to preorder the PowerCore 20100 and the PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch Edition in late June, 2018 at GameStop and Anker.com.
“We are excited to partner with Nintendo to bring Anker power delivery technology to the Nintendo Switch,” said Steven Yang, CEO of Anker Innovations. “We believe our new power banks will be this year’s ‘must-have’ have accessory for all Nintendo Switch gamers.”
Uniquely Optimized for the Nintendo Switch
USB-C Power Delivery is a relatively new charging technology that allows mobile products with higher power needs, such as Notebooks and small appliances, to be fast-charged through portable USB-C power banks.
Anker worked closely with Nintendo to calibrate its battery technology to intelligently deliver fast charging to the Nintendo Switch. This means that the Nintendo Switch can be fast charged from 0% to 100% in just under 3 hours – even during gameplay – when connected to Anker’s new certified power packs.
