This morning, popular accessory-maker Anker has unveiled its new Soundcore Vortex Over-Ear Bluetooth Headphones. While hardly its first foray into wireless audio, this is the first time that it has gone away from the earbud design. In typical Anker fashion, these new headphones blend sleek looks and affordability. More below.
Anker’s audio lineup has slowly grown over the last few years, as Bluetooth headphones have become a must-have for any iPhone and Android user. An ever-increasing lineup of various earbuds have been a hit with our readers here at gadgetnewsonline, but we’ve yet to see an over-ear offering until today.
The new Soundore Vortex Headphones are listed at $69.99 shipped via Amazon, which puts them well above the company’s other audio products. However, when compared to pricier alternatives from Beats and the like, these headphones are priced right in the middle of the curve.
Those familiar with the over-ear headphone market will notice that Anker has leaned on a variety of designs for inspiration here. The hinged headband is reminiscent of previous Beats releases, which has been popular for some time. Anker says that the ear-cups are made from a memory foam material, which should help with long listening sessions.
Notable specs include:
- Stunning Sound: 40 mm drivers power professionally-tuned audio with aptX high definition sound.
- Play Longer: Get up to 20 hours of playtime in wireless mode, or plug in the AUX cable for non-stop music.
- Stow Away: Fold flat and store in the convenient hard-shell travel case.
- Lightweight Fit: The memory foam ear-cups and headband are covered in soft, synthetic leather to ensure Vortex remains exceptionally comfortable—no matter how long you listen.
Jumping into the specs, users can plan on around 20-hours of playback on a single charge. If the battery happens to run out, there’s the option of plugging in with the included 3.5mm AUX cable. Inside are dual 40mm drivers that have been “professionally tuned” with support for the aptX codec. A built-in microphone with virtual assistant compatibility rounds out the long list of specs here for the new Soundcore Vortex.
It’s no surprise that Anker is expanding its lineup of audio offerings to cover a variety of styles. The reality is that, historically speaking, earbuds from Anker and other companies have been much more competitively priced versus over-ear alternatives. Over the last few years we’ve seen the price drop rather dramatically on workout-style headphones on Amazon. It’s not unheard of for various manufacturers to offers deals in the $10 range, something that seemed impossible just five years ago.
You can pick up the new Anker Soundcore Vortex Wireless Headphones for $69.99 shipped today via Amazon.
