Makeblock wins two iF design awards for its innovative STEM toys for kids

Makeblock is a company we highlighted last year for its revolutionary STEM building sets. Now, the company has two products that have won the prestigious iF Design Award, its Neuron robotic building system and Airblock modular drone.

In just a couple of years on the scene, Makeblock has already been recognized by adults and kids alike for its STEM sets. The company that is only 5 years old first got its start on Kickstarter and was able to produce a number of different fully funded products.

Makeblock now has received recognition from the technology industry with its “outstanding innovation capabilities.” It has also been credited as a “new pioneer in the STEAM education industry.”

The iF Design Award has been a beacon of quality for exceptional design for over 65 years now. The iF label is recognized worldwide for its outstanding design services and the award it offers yearly is one of the most important design prizes in the world.

Makeblock Neuron is an electronic building block platform for STEM education. Each kit contains over 30 kinds of blocks with different functions. The blocks are integrated to work with a flow-based programming app and kids 6 years and older (or yes, even adults) can build a variety of smart gadgets.

The kits are made to be very intuitive and you can connect different blocks in a snap through magnetic connections. Kids can use a text-based programming app on a computer to explore even more sophisticated functions. Also, Neuron is compatible with LEGO for even more creative options.

Airblock is the “world’s first modular and programmable drone” that can be turned into a variety of different things. It’s rated as an entry-level drone that introduces adults and kids alike to basic engineering and programming while having fun in the process.

It has magnetic attachments and can be easily and quickly transformed into a variety of different things. Kids can even use their smartphones or tablets to act as a virtual joystick. Also, the drone uses graphical programming that makes it a great tool to teach kids about programming in way that is still fun for all.

Makeblock’s main focus is STEM educational kits and DIY robotics that are easy-to-use and offer great learning tools that let just about anyone unlock their ideas. You can find out more about its products, pricing and availability from the Makeblock website.
