It’s no secret that our tablets and smartphones have better visual interfaces than most in-dash car stereo options out there. So why not just use our own devices as the stereo interface? The Vehroot Shelf lets you do just that. With it, you’ll be able to use your smartphone or tablet as part of your car stereo and connect your vehicle with the latest technologies. Currently being funded on Kickstarter it has less than a month to go to before becoming a reality.
With the Vehroot Shelf you can connect a few Bluetooth devices and then easily switch between them in the car. So now you can let your passengers pick the next song or just switch from your smartphone to your tablet. Also, you don’t have to worry about connecting multiple charging cables with this system. It has 3-coil QI charging bridge that gives you up to 15W power and supports most Samsung and late-model iPhones.
With dual microphones you can use the system for hands-free calling, voice-to-text and voice command control of Siri, Cortana, Alexa, and others. You can basically keep your eyes on the road and still get to most aspects of your smart phone or other devices. There’s even a dedicated USB-C charging port that has 15W of always-on power. So even when you turn off your car the Vehroot Shelf will provide power for your devices. You’ll also be able to set the LED color and intensity to match your car or any other color you want. Additionally the LED intensity will dim automatically in the evening when you turn on your headlights.
Vehroot offers the worlds only car stereo you can securely place, wirelessly charge, and Bluetooth connect any size or brand mobile device.
The Shelf is the newest stereo to provide a great mounting location for your phone. What sets it apart from other systems is its cable-free charging and that it also supports any size or brand device. It also frees you from the factory settings of most car stereo companies and lets you choose your own design and interface for your car.
A pledge of $400 or more will get you a Vehroot Shelf with the early bird special from the Kickstarter campaign site. That’s $100 off the expected retail value and the lowest you can currently get one for. If all goes as planned for the Shelf, shipping to backers will begin in April of 2018.
