How to: prepare to host a great Thanksgiving weekend with tips from $20

Thanksgiving is almost here and it’s time to start plumping the pillows and preparing your guest room for company. If you’re wondering how to host a perfect Thanksgiving dinner, you’re in the right place. Today we are sharing some tips to help you prepare the most wonderful Thanksgiving weekend yet.

Preparing and planning ahead is a great way to start off your stress-free Thanksgiving weekend and if you’re reading this than your probably off to a perfect start. If you’re looking for ideas to fix up your guest room before company arrives check out our guide to making the coziest space for visitors.

As you plan ahead, don’t be afraid to let friends and family help you. For example, if a family member offers to bring a dish, ask him or her to bring one of the dishes that you might not have time to prepare. Especially if you have company, have your guests bring appetizers or arrange a potluck style dinner.

With many people gathering in one space, running back and forth making drinks to serve to your guests can be time-consuming and can cut down on time spent with loved ones. Consider having one signature drink that you can make ahead of time, and serve in a drink dispenser or punch bowl. Place a bucket of ice and glasses nearby and let your guests serve themselves.

Another tip is to have your place settings ready for guests to grab and serve themselves. Also, check out our guide to new dishes to spruce up your Thanksgiving table. In addition, setting a warm glow with candles adds a relaxed, and welcoming feel to your space. Add some unscented candles or faux lit candles on the table and other furniture to create extra ambience.

Consider organizing some fun activities to do together for after the Thanksgiving dinner is over. A few of the top games this year are Watch Ya’ Mouth, Cards Against Humanity, and 5 Second Rule. Even better, each of these games are under $20. Also, add cozy throws to the bottoms of beds and on your sofa and chairs to encourage your company to feel at home.
