Spending the right amount of money on a decent speaker isn’t always the easiest thing to do. If you know exactly what you are looking for in a speaker, that definitely helps. For example, some people prefer bass like in Archeer’s A320, but others would rather their music be more balanced. Otherwise, you may want to consider looking into which specs are suitable to your needs before you go ahead and make your purchase.
First Look
Archeer’s A320 Bluetooth speaker caught my attention by its bamboo and wood design alone. Most of my furniture happens to be that texture or similar, so that’s a win for matching.
I immediately liked how all four rubber buttons that stick up out of the fabric are accessible at the top of the device, simply in a straight line. These allow you to change the volume, play or pause the music, and turn the power on or off.
Design
The A320 has a simple and symmetrical look to it that allows it to blend with most home environments. It features dual 5W drivers that deliver mid and high sound, and one 15W subwoofer that pumps out the bass. The charcoal color is made up of a canvas cloth that surrounds the speaker, which adds a nice contrast to the lighter colored wood.
In the back you’ll find a plastic faceplate that includes several ports. There’s a micro-USB port for charging, a 3.5mm audio input, a reset button, and a red LED light that’ll illuminate when the battery is low. Further down, you’ll see a bass port that appears as a giant hole, which allows air to pass through in order to improve the bass response.
Setup
Finding the A320 from my iPhone 6s Plus was a quick and easy Bluetooth pairing process. Once connected, the speaker played a short tone letting me know that the pairing was a success. After that, I could easily stream music to the speaker. Thanks to the included on top of the speaker, play/pause, skipping, and volume control is available on the music device or on the speaker itself.
Sound
Now the sound on this speaker is simply something I was not prepared for. This speaker has outstanding sound clarity and bass prominence. Playing music inside my house filled the entire living room, and while playing it outside I was surprised at how loud music still played.
While it’s on the larger end of portable Bluetooth speakers, it’s a trade off. I think the sound it produces is definitely worth well more than this speaker goes for.
Battery
Archeer’s claim for an 11 hour battery from the A320’s 5200mAh battery is spot on. This thing can play music all day long, with obvious exceptions like blasting it on full volume. Be sure to take note that because it has such a large battery, it takes quite a while to charge.
Another thing to be aware of is that you do not want to charge the speaker while playing music. The company has explained to me that doing so can decrease the battery life tremendously, which is rather disappointing.
Conclusion
First and foremost, the price for the A320 is worth every penny. The speaker is fun and engaging, and perfect for anywhere you want enjoy your favorite songs. Just do yourself a favor and don’t expect to take calls with this thing; it’s really just perfect for music.
I’d like to mention that an addition of Wi-Fi or AirPlay streaming would be a really nice touch. I believe Archeer has future plans of allowing multi-room speaker connectivity, which would be fantastic.
Archeer’s 25W Bluetooth Speaker is at $69.99 shipped right now at Amazon.
If you need a bit cheaper, the company has other options to choose from as well. Its Slim Bluetooth Speaker with LED Light is just $20 with code 9ZBCCG2A. The other option is the Fabric Covered Bluetooth Speaker for $31 when code WSJCG2SJ is used at checkout.
