Today, Microsoft took the stage at E3 in Los Angeles to unveil its next generation console: Xbox One X. Previously called Project Scorpio, this was the first opportunity we’ve had for an in-depth look since it was first teased a year ago. Alongside this new 4K gaming system, Microsoft detailed 42 fresh games including Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and Metro Exodus. Of course, that comes after today’s price drop on the current generation Xbox One S. More on that can be found right here.
We have full details on the upcoming Xbox One X alongside trailers for the most notable game announcements from today’s event after the break.
Microsoft didn’t waste any time as kicked off its E3 event with a ton of details about the upcoming Xbox One X. Due on November 7th, it has a retail price of $499 and Amazon already has a pre-order page up. Dubbed the “most powerful console ever”, Xbox One X sports true 4K video with HDR support at over 8 million pixels. It’s powered by a six teraflop 1.72GHz processor that pumps out so much power, it needs to be liquid cooled.
Lose yourself in worlds built for immersive true 4K gaming, where action is brought to life with 2160p frame buffers. Enjoy brilliant graphic details in lights, shadows, and reflections with High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut. Experience premium audio that puts you in the center of 3D spatial sound. Stream and record game clips in 4K at screaming-fast 60FPS.
Additional specs include 12GB of memory with 326GB/s of bandwidth flowing at peak loads. Xbox One X has all of the necessary buzzwords covered, including Dolby Atmos and 4K Blu-ray support. Thankfully Microsoft will be offering support for all Xbox One games and accessories at launch, so there won’t be any need to buy new gear come November. As well, the latest console from Microsoft is also the smallest Xbox ever released.

Forza Motorsports 7
The first game to previewed at Microsoft’s E3 event was Forza Motorsport 7. In fact, Porsche stole the show first unveiling a new supercar on-stage as a part of its exclusive contract with the game. Forza will run in full 4K at 60fps when it is released on October 3rd. It will also include the “largest collection of Porsche and Lamborghini vehicles” ever on a single video game. Look for this title to be the flagship release on Microsoft’s latest console this fall.

Assassin’s Creed Origins
The latest Assassin’s Creed title – Origins – takes us back to the beginning of the Brotherhood on October 27th in full 4K. Based in ancient Egypt, gamers will get a full immersive environment filled with pyramids, camels and more. Ubisoft has its own event at E3 on Monday, so we’re expecting to see even more details then. We’ll have full coverage of any announcements tomorrow.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
An Xbox One exclusive, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to ship in late 2017. We don’t know much about the title at this point other than that it will offer “Xbox One X enhancements” when it hits.

Wrapping up
Microsoft provided the usual pomp and circumstance that we’d expect from a next generation console announcement. Xbox One X hits all the specs that we were hoping for, but only time will tell if non-hardcore gamers care enough about 4K to make the jump. Regardless, it’s likely to be one of the hottest buys this holiday season as it competes with Nintendo Switch for your dollars. I for one will be pre-ordering Xbox One X as it’s a welcome upgrade from my console that’s now four year old. What about you? Let us know down in the comments and be sure to follow us on Twitter for the rest of E3’s biggest announcements.
