You may have heard of loss-prevention products like the Tile Mate or the Tile Slim. Inventions like these are meant to help the average person keep tabs on personal items like keys, wallets, or bags.
A company named Informu has completed funding for a new product that they like to call the Mu tag. It’s the “world’s smallest loss prevention device,” according to Informu. The idea here is to prevent loss of personal items in the first place. Informu claims that this product provides the smartest and simplest way to keep your belongings safe.
This tiny item can be attached to the things that matter most to you. Uniquely designed, this little device works on most surfaces and provides notifications to your smartphone. It’ll send a notification if you end up far from your car keys that slipped out at the pizza store.
Regarding the setup, you won’t believe how simple it is. Similar to Apple’s AirPods, the Mu tag does not require a complicated Bluetooth setup. All you need to do is attach a charged Mu tag to your item, use the free app to configure details (like the name of the item the tag is attached to), and that’s it! Notifications are sent to any Android or iOS device, or to your smartwatch.

For added style, there are multiple colors available to choose from. It’s always nice to have a product that blends with the look of our current belongings. Colors include black, blue, red, orange, and white.
As an additional feature, the Mu tag learns about you and your needs. It can integrate with your calendar to foresee what items you may need tracked. With the included app, you can also choose safe locations like your home in which you will not get unnecessary notifications.
Optional add-on items are available for your Mu tag charging needs. Called the Mu Hub, a 2,000-mAh power bank with a nice enclosure has slots for up to 4 Mu tags. The Mu Charger works for one Mu tag, and acts as a USB connector. Mu tags charge fully within 30 minutes.
The Mu tag is made up of two modules. There’s the micro-controller, and there’s an interchangeable and rechargeable battery module. Features provided by the hardware include letting you know when your belongings aren’t safe, a 3 month battery, and the ability for the tag to be discreetly attached to anything.
The Mu tag starts at $23 for expected delivery this December. As for the add-on items, Key Fobs are $5, and Mu Chargers are $15.
