Kick off the weekend right with $1 HD movie rentals from Amazon: Mona Lisa Smile, The Big Year, All-Star Superman, more

Amazon is back again with a list of HD movies you can rent for just $0.99 for the weekend. Rentals like these typically run betweeen $4-$6 each. Our top pick from the list is a classic from 2003, Mona Lisa Smile starring Julia Roberts and Kirsten Dunst. In the film, Roberts plays a free-thinking art professor that teaches conservative 1950s Wellesley girls to question their traditional social roles.

As always, when renting from Amazon you have 30 days to start watching your film and then 48 hours to finish once started. We also still have $1 Rentals at iTunes.

Katherine Ann Watson has accepted a position teaching art history at the prestigious Wellesley College. Watson is a very modern woman, particularly for the 1950s, and has a passion not only for art but for her students. For the most part, the students all seem to be biding their time, waiting to find the right man to marry. The students are all very bright and Watson feels they are not reaching their potential. Altough a strong bond is formed between teacher and student, Watson’s views are incompatible with the dominant culture of the college.
