Kodak first announced its 360-degree PIXPRO action camera over two years ago. While it was generally well-received, the single lens design made for less than optimal footage. Fast forward to CES 2017, and we’re getting an in-depth look at the brand’s upcoming dual lens Orbit 360 4K VR. As the name suggests, the latest version ups the resolution and adds virtual reality capabilities. Two 20 megapixel sensors should work together for a substantial increase in image quality.
The new Orbit will have Wi-Fi connectivity and offers many of the same functions that make top-end action cameras like GoPro popular. With the growth YouTube is seeing in VR footage and affordable headsets littering the market, this new Kodak camera might be coming along at just the right time. The Orbit 360 4K VR is set to retail for $499 when it hits online shelves later this month.
Further expansion of the highly regarded 360° VR Camera category within the 2017 KODAK PIXPRO line up is proof of JK Imaging’s commitment to video enthusiasts worldwide, by adding a third 360° VR camera to their popular KODAK PIXPRO line up and joining the award winning SP360 4K that has been embraced by creative visionaries and content creators worldwide. The ORBIT360 4K will enter the market with a base MSRP of $499US and will follow the existing KODAK PIXPRO 360° models with optional bundles that include valuable accessories and complimentary PIXPRO software for editing and stitching on Mac and PCs.
