If you have been thinking about upgrading your smartphone lately, it may be time to lock in a cheaper carrier with a better data plan while you’re at it. With ever changing rates, it’s not always easy to find the best deal on high-speed data. We think we just found a great new deal on a no-contract budget data plan.
Starting tomorrow, AT&T’s Cricket will be offering unlimited talk and texting and 1GB of high-speed data for $30 per month. That price includes all monthly taxes and fees and stands to be a great budget option for a lot of customers. Previously Cricket’s cheapest plan was a $40 per month making this new one the lowest cost plan we’ve seen from the carrier.
Cricket will also not charge users for service overages after the data limit is used up. Instead, the speed will be reduced to just 128Kbps. The plan is similar to what Google’s Project Fi offers its customers. The service is also available on far more phones than T-Mobile. And while Google and T-Mobile limit you to three Nexus phones for now, Cricket offers about two dozen handsets. If you don’t want to be tied to a Nexus but still want to save money, you may really like Cricket’s new plan.
Also, beginning tomorrow, if you switch you can get a free 4G LTE smartphone, when you activate a plan. You can choose from the Alcatel STREAK, ZTE Sonata 3 or Kyocera Hydro VIEW as well. There’s also another deal offer by Cricket. It’s the Alcatel Idol 4 + VR Experience Pack that includes the Idol 4 smartphone and VR goggles. This package normally goes for $199.99, but customers that switch to Cricket and activate service can get it for only $99.99.
- T-Mobile offers free iPhone 7 to anyone who trades in an iPhone 6/s, deal starts tomorrow alongside pre-orders
- Sprint matches T-Mobile’s free 32GB iPhone 7 w/ trade-in deal, offers 256GB for $100 off
