Dyson’s pricey 360 Eye robo-vac finally sees the light of day

After much teasing and re-engineering, the highly-anticipated Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum cleaner is finally ready to launch…in Japan. The new robo-vac was first detailed over a year ago, but bumps along the way has kept the new automatic sweeper from launching. Not only is it available now in Japan, we’re also getting our first look at pricing. This will be the most expensive model in Dyson’s fleet of vacuums, that’s for sure.

Dyson is a legendary brand name in the world of home goods. Its products are highly-rated by consumers and include a solid warranty. To this point, they have steered clear of the robotic vacuums, leaving the crumbs (and money) to iRobot and the like.

Dyson is using a new 360-degree eye to track what has been cleaned and where the vacuum still needs to go. The built-in camera takes notice of landmarks in your home while it cleans and uses these reference points to ensure that every corner of your home has been vacuumed.

Of course, the 360 Eye is packed with all of the features we’ve come to expect from Dyson. It will have Root Cyclone technology that collects direct and breaks it down into small particles. Like its other vacuums, Dyson promises that this new rendition will not loose suction while cleaning.

There are some new features, most notably, iPhone and Android connectivity. Users will be able to check-in on the status of the Eye 360, manage schedules and check battery life. It is expected to be able to run for roughly 30 minutes at a time and docking itself on a small charging station when needed.

We’ve come to expect a premium level of pricing from Dyson. The new 360 Eye takes it a whole different level, as of know it is available in Japan for 149,040 yen or roughly $1,200. Final pricing and availability has yet to be announced here in the United States. For reference, the top-of-the-line iRobot model currently sells for $900.
