Update (9/1 1:30pm): The Elite console is now available for pre-order via Amazon.
Today, Microsoft has announced a new Xbox One bundle and Special Edition controller that are set to hit online shelves this fall. The Elite Bundle will include hardware upgrades and the upcoming Elite Wireless Controller, but it’s the Lunar White model that has caught our eye. Head below for full details.
The new Xbox One Elite Bundle skips the free games in lieu of a top-of-the-line hardware experience. Most notably is the inclusion of a 1TB Solid-State Hybrid Drive that Microsoft claims will boost performance by 20% in comparison to energy-saving mode. Similar to Apple’s own Fusion Drive, frequently-accessed files will be stored on a SSD partition that has increased speeds over its mechanical counterpart. Often needed load screen animations and game saves are perfect candidates for the increased performance.
Additionally, this new bundle will include the upcoming Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. The new competition-style controller was announced back at E3 and includes customizable buttons, a rolling D-Pad and locking triggers. The Xbox One Elite Bundle is available for pre-order today for $499.99 exclusively at the Microsoft Store and GameStop. It will ship on November 3rd.
Microsoft also lifted the veil on a new Special Edition Lunar White Wireless Controller. It has all of the features of the recently updated wireless controller, with a special white and gold color scheme and an “improved grip texture for more control and comfort”. The Lunar White Wireless Controller will be available exclusively at GameStop for $64.99, it is available for pre-order today with a September 21st delivery date.
With a loaded Fall season of upcoming releases, such as Forza 6, Halo 5 and Star Wars Battlefront, Microsoft is putting Xbox One in position to have a huge holiday season. Be sure to check out our daily games roundup for the best deals and more.
