NeatherRealm announces Mortal Kombat X hybrid card-battler for iOS and Android

Just in time for the highly anticipated main console/PC release, today Warner Bros. and developer NeatherRealm have also announced a brand new Mortal Kombat X title coming to mobile platforms. While described as a “free-to-play fighting/card-battler hybrid”, the new iOS/Android title looks to bring the same “iconic visceral combat” and “vicious graphics” MK fans are used to.

Head below for a closer look in the announcement trailer, plus more details on which characters and gameplay features will be crossing over from the main console title:

While we aren’t talking about the same classic 2D fighting game found in the main MK titles, players will find everything from Fatalities, x-rays and some of the classic iconic characters. NeatherRealm is yet to release an official character roster for the upcoming hybrid card collector, but the official press release does mention series mainstays like Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden, as well as mentioning others like “ the Next generation of Kombatants.”

There is also some cross-connectivity content available here as well. Players who own the game on both console/PC and mobile will be able to unlock additional goodies or both versions by completing certain tasks via a WB Play account and with in-game achievements.

The mobile version of Mortal Kombat X for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android is set to release on the same day as its console counterpart: April 14, 2015.
