Belkin releases WeMo Light Switch with support for iOS /Android devices, retails for $50

Mobile device powered home automation is becoming a big deal. It is more affordable, easier to install and more convenient than traditional security and automation systems. Adding to their ‘WeMo Smart Home‘ platform, Belkin has released the WeMo Light Switch with support for iOS and Android devices. This $50 gadget replaces your current light switch (using the same electrical wiring) and then allows “users to remotely access and manage an entire bank of household lights from anywhere using the WeMo app.” The free iOS / Android app (coming soon) is able to “turn lights on or off, put them on a schedule, and even time them according to local sunrise and sunset.” WeMo Light Switch will work over 3G or WiFi and does not require a monthly subscription.
