Sony announces Black Friday 2017 PlayStation 4 & VR price drops + much more

Sony has now announced its discount plans for Black Friday. As you have likely already seen, Black Friday 2017 ads from Best Buy, Walmart and others have listed PlayStation 4 at $100 off for the holidays. Sony announced the official price drop as part of its Black Friday plans along with a few other notable deals coming to PlayStation VR, digital discounts on PSN and more…

While most PS gamers will likely have the PS4 Pro on their radar when it comes to Black Friday deals, it is nice to see the slim 1TB model PS4 drop down to $200 at most major retailers. To be specific, Best Buy, Walmart, Newegg, Dell and Meijer have all advertised the system at that price. Having said that, it will most likely also see the same price drop at Amazon and possibly GameStop for Black Friday, if not over the next week or so.

In its official blog post, Sony said the price drop should start to take effect on November 19th, almost a full week before Black Friday.

We will also be seeing Sony PS4 DualShock 4 controllers drop $20 from the MSRP down to $39.99. On top of Newegg already listing the controllers for $40 in its Black Friday ad, all of the big 5 retail chains will likely at some point be price matching on the DualShocks.

On top of that deal and also starting on Sunday the 19th, Sony will also be offering a pair of PS VR bundles at a discount. The PlayStation VR Gran Turismo Bundle will drop $50 down to $299.99 and the PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle will be $100 off at $349.99. That’s matching the best price we have tracked on the Gran Turismo Bundle and well under the not even released yet Skyrim package (releases November 17th).

We are expecting all major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and others to have these deals readily available starting on the 19th as well. The GT Bundle is listed at $300 in the Dell Black Friday 2017 ad.

As for PSN, Sony hasn’t given out all that many details just yet, but there will be loads of deals across the entire storefront. From what we can tell so far, PlayStation Plus members will get early access to the digital sale starting on November 17th, and deals up to 40% off. As for the rest of us, the PSN sale will run from November 21st through until the 28th. Sony says more details on its Black Friday sale will come available over the next few days.
