Yesterday, Lexar announced its new 256GB microSD card as an addition to its Professional 1000x lineup. Designed specifically for 4K video, this piece of storage can handle transfer rates at up to 150Mbps. Lexar is planning on pitching its latest creation to GoPro users in need of higher capacity and better performance.
Content creators can plan on capturing around nine hours of full 4K video on the new card or 36 hours in 1080p. While geared towards GoPro, Lexar’s latest will also function well with high-performance Android devices. The bad news? This microSD card isn’t going to come cheap. Set to launch in March, it will have a suggested MSRP of $350.

With UHS Speed Class 3 (U3), this card is ideal for high-speed capture of extended lengths of 4K, 3D, and 1080p full-HD video. Capable of recording up to 9 hours of 4K video2, this card is also perfect for shooting action with an aerial camera, since they require multiple memory cards for extended use. The new card comes with a microSD™UHS-II USB 3.0 reader to dramatically accelerate workflow with high-speed file transfer up to 150MB/s3, getting content innovators back to capturing the action faster.
