Remote controlled Star Wars drones that hit 25mph in under 3 seconds? Sign me up.

Last year, as we approached the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Sphero’s BB-8 Droid was one of the hottest gifts of the holiday season. You see, leveraging these George Lucas-turned-JJ Abrams dreams into reality is key for toymakers and movie studios alike. And rightly so.

The latest creation to get the Star Wars treatment is the new line of Propel drones that bring iconic Star Wars vehicles to your backyard. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill remote control recreations, you’ll be able to top out at around 25mph with these toys…

Propel’s new drones were announced over the weekend at the Star Wars Celebration. All together, four models were unveiled including the Millennium Falcon, TIE Advanced 1, T-65 X-Wing Starfighter and the 74-Z Speeder Bike. Each of these new releases gets a special hand-painted exterior to match the original. Additionally, every model receives a model number to commemorate rolling off the assembly line.

There is a new reverse propulsion system on these drones that will allow each model to hit 25mph in less than three seconds. Impressive. This also moves these reproductions from the ‘toy’ category to something better suited for a more experienced pilot. Additional capabilities include the the ability to do 360-degree aerials and built-in lasers that can be used to fight off other Propel drones in the sky. Three direct hits will cause your opponents aircraft to slowly find a safe place to land.

Each drone will ship in a special display case that has flashing lights, theme music and movie dialogue. Propel is now taking reservations for the first 15,000 units that will have a “special edition” designation on it. Prices are expected to run between $325 and $400, according to reports on Gizmag.
