Relive your favorite classic video games with the pocket sized Pitendo NES emulator

There are many ways to enjoy classic 8 and 16-bit games from the past, whether it be emulators or just dusting off the old SNES. There are also a number of newer dedicated consoles that can play old cartridges and run emulators, but none quite like Pitendo.

Combining the power and flexibility of a B+ Raspberry Pi inside a mini NES looking case, Pitendo offers much more than your average classic emulator console.

Beyond the nostalgic enclosure, users can load the tiny console up with multiple emulators including those for NES, SNES, and Genesis titles, among others. It is easily small enough to throw in your pocket, carrying hundreds of titles from the early home gaming consoles anywhere you want to go.

Like all Raspberry Pi-based products, the Pitendo is geared towards DIY types. You can buy the enclosure separately and use a B+ unit you already own, otherwise there is an all-in-one package available. Pitendo Ultimate includes everything you need to get the mini emulator up and running including the Raspberry Pi model B+, an 8GB SD card with RetroPie, an AC adapter, HDMI cable and a SNES-looking USB controller.

The enclosure sells on its own for $49 (fits a Raspberry B+) and the Ultimate package will run you $119 for everything mentioned above. Currently deliveries require a lead time of 3-4 weeks and will come with 2-day shipping (US only). Instructional videos on how to load ROMS (games) on to the machine will be available soon.

Now you can find older, used Nintendo consoles for less than $119 here and there, but the games will be much harder to come by (less reliable), not to mention the added functionality the mini on-board computer provides.
