Matt Rutledge practically invented the concept of daily deal websites when he launched Woot back in 2004. Since then, the internet has become inundated with daily deal websites that transformed into nearly full on commerce websites. We track the best of these websites with our gadgetnewsonline Daily Deal Tracker tool and curate the best daily with our Daily Deal posts (today’s).
Meh is Rutledge’s new venture that he hopes will revive the glory days of daily deals:
Today is born a daily-deal site in the original mold. A daily-deal site that gets back to basics. A daily-deal site like you don’t see anymore: one that only sells a daily deal.
Rutledge’s vision for a daily deal website is one that simply offers one great deal a day and doesn’t expand its offerings with a swarm of mediocre deals that are hard to parse through. We wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment and it’s a big part of the reason gadgetnewsonline exists (to cut through the mediocrity and bring you the absolute best deals).
Meh’s first deal is a refurbished iRobot Roomba 560 vacuum for $179, which Meh concedes is “nowhere near the newest model,” but they still think it’s worth the purchase:
If you ask us, the good old 560 was peak Roomba. It was the moment when iRobot put together all the classic features that made Roomba Roomba … without any of the finicky refinements that make later Roomba models so expensive.
As with all future deals, the iRobot will only be available until midnight Eastern or until it sells out.
We look forward to sharing all of Meh’s best upcoming deals. It’s also worth poking around the Welcome and FAQ sections of the website for some helpful tips and lots of dry humor.
