Throughout this week, Best Buy has made each of the four standard configuration 2014 MacBook Air models available at a $100 discount. Anyone with access to a .edu email address can save an additional $150, which drops the entry level 11-inch model down to a staggering $650 with free shipping. There’s also an upgraded 11-inch and two 13-inch models starting at $899.99 (or $750 w/ .edu).
All you have to do to take advantage of the .edu discount is head to this special promo page, submit your email address, and then Best Buy will email you a unique promo code. If you don’t have access to a .edu email then we suggest being very nice to your friends that do ;).
Here’s the pricing breakdown by model:
- 11.6-inch (MD711LL/B) 1.4Gz/4GB/128GB: $799.99 or $649.99 w/ .EDU (Reg. $899)
- 11.6-inch (MD712LL/B) 1.4Gz/4GB/256GB: $999.99 or $849.99 w/ .EDU (Reg. $1,099)
- 13.3-inch (MD760LL/B) 1.4Gz/4GB/128GB: $899.99 or $749.99 w/ .EDU (Reg. $999)
- 13.3-inch (MD761LL/B) 1.4Gz/4GB/256GB: $1,099.99 or $949.99 w/ .EDU (Reg. $1,199)
There’s also a $50 iPad discount for .edu customers, which right now yields a Retina iPad mini starting at $329.99. That’s the lowest price we have ever seen for Apple’s newest 7-inch tablet.

They are not price matching these for past orders of the MacBook Air because they are calling this weekends sale special pricing. The website does not mention this exception. They are also saying that since I used the EDU pricing that they may not do it at all. This is definitely frustrating. The customer service representative is sending it up the chain but the rep is saying that it may not work out.
Thanks for the heads-up on the MacBook discount. I tried to get the $150 discount using my edu email, but so I’ve only received the confirmation and College Tech Savings emails. Do you know how long it takes to get the $150 discount code?
